Professor David Dodoo-Arhin (PhD, Italy)
Prof. David Dodoo-Arhin is a full Professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Ghana and the Director of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST).
He obtained his PhD degree in Materials Engineering from the University of Trento-Italy in 2010. He was appointed a lecturer in 2011, Senior Lecturer (2014), Associate Professor (2018), Professor (2021), Head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, (2014- 2016) and Acting Director of the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) from August 2016 to December 2016.
His research focus is on Nanostructured materials for Energy and Environmental applications as well as conversion of plastic waste to energy products. He is a member of the Ghana Young Academy, a fellow of the Africa Science Leadership programme (ASLP) and the Inter-Academy Partnership Science Advice for policy at the International Science Council Regional office for Africa. He serves on the International Review Panel of the African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence pilot programme (ARISE-PP) implemented by the African Academy of Sciences (AAS), Nairobi-Kenya, Review Panel of the Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET)-Regional Scholarships and Innovation Fund (RSIF) PhD scholarships- the International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe), Nairobi-Kenya; DANIDA Fellowships Centre’s National Screening Committee in Ghana; the screening Panel of the Future Leaders – African Independent Research (FLAIR) Fellowship programme among others.
He has about 87 scientific publications in International peer reviewed journals, 5 book chapters, 1 patent, and has participated in several local and international conferences.
