HUBS

To promote multidisciplinary research and innovation, the Director of the Institute has proposed the creation of some academic functional hubs. Each Hub will focus on a broad, multidisciplinary theme. These hubs will provide a flexible platform for faculty from different disciplines to collaborate on projects and engage with industry and government. As the Institute continues to engage with industry, it is expected that other thematic areas will be included.

Each Hub will be headed by a Coordinator who reports to the Director. The hubs will have core academic staff and Research and Administrative Assistants providing technical and operational support. This structure of thematic hubs will allow the Institute to remain responsive to emerging challenges and opportunities.

The following hubs are proposed:

  • Artificial Intelligence, Data Science and Engineering hub
  • Pharmaceutical and Vaccine Manufacturing hub
  • Diagnostics and Medical Devices hub
  • Electric and Autonomous Vehicle hub
  • Business and Industry Engagement hub
  • Agrifoods Systems hub
  • Greenhouse Technology hub
  • Climate Resilience and Health hub
