2024 Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA) Celebration
2024 DAY OF SCIENTIFIC RENAISSANCE OF AFRICA (DSRA)
The Institute of Applied Science and Technology actively participated in the University of Ghana’s 2024 Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA). The Institute’s involvement began with the College of Basic and Applied Sciences’ (CBAS) 2024 Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA) celebration, held at the La Bawaleshie Presbyterian Basic School Park in the Ayawaso West Municipality.
The core objective of the DSRA celebration is to remind African governments and communities of the critical roles Science and Technology play in national development. It also commemorates the continent’s significant contributions to the rise and advancement of modern Science and Technology.
The theme for this year’s celebration by the College was "Connecting Communities with Science." The event highlighted the impactful contributions of the College's constituent units in improving lives and livelihoods through Science and Technology.
During the event, various departments showcased their research outputs and products while engaging with community members. The Institute of Applied Science participated actively, educating attendees about its various initiatives, such as the valorization of plastic waste into fuels and the use of greenhouse technology for vegetable production.
The Institute also participated in the climax of University of Ghana’s celebration of the 2024 Day of Scientific Renaissance of Africa (DSRA) at the Cedi Conference centre, where an exhibition highlighted scholarly works, innovative technologies, and products developed by the University’s departments and units.
The events underscored the Institute’s commitment to advancing Science and Technology for societal benefit.
