A delegation from the Institute of Applied Science and Technology (IAST) and the Global Entrepreneurship Network – Ghana (GEN-G), led by Prof. George Oduro Nkansah, Director, IAST, have paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo.

The purpose of the visit was to officially welcome her into office and to bring the Vice-Chancellor up to speed on the University of Ghana Innovation and Entrepreneurship Programme (UGIEP), which is a brainchild of the partnership between UG and GEN-G, through IAST as well as to solicit her support and direction since the multidisciplinary programme is under the auspices of the Office of the Vice-Chancellor.

Prof. Oduro Nkansah informed the Vice-Chancellor that the goal of the UGIEP is to develop programmes to accelerate the innovation and entrepreneurial opportunities within the University. The team explained the six programme areas that will receive attention as part of the UGIEP.

The Vice-Chancellor lauded the initiative and assured the team of her support. She noted that these initiatives were timely and relevant in making the University of Ghana and the country more attractive and competitive. She intimated that the UGIEP project falls within her vision of driving technology and humanism, where students and staff are at the centre of the University’s activities and progress. The Vice-Chancellor, therefore, tasked the team to strategise and popularise the activities with timeliness to achieve the programmes outlined as scheduled.

Present at the meeting were Mr. Stephen Gyasi-Kwaw, Managing Director, GEN-G and the IAST team made up of Dr. Henry Ofosuhene Sintim, Research Fellow; Dr. Peter Amoako Ofori, Research Fellow and Mr. Bright Kwaku Avuglah, Assistant Registrar.
